February photo contest pick of the day

Categories: Canada, Community

Today's photo of the day was sent to us by Tracy Kelly of London, Ont., who snapped this photo while exploring the woods near Westminister Ponds on a solitary afternoon.

The photographer wandered off the path to "explore an intuition."

"When I looked up, I saw this heart-shaped clump of leaves, the only leaves on any of the trees surrounding me," she explained.

"I just knew I was guided there to find it," added the nature lover, who is so good at finding hearts that she has a collection of them on her website.

"I love to walk in nature, and I've always found hearts wherever I go."

The leaves surely would have fallen down and blown away if they had not clung to one another. Perhaps, then, the photographer found a lesson about love in the trees.

Thanks for the submission, Tracy.

We'll be posting your best shots with the theme of "Love" each day in February. At the end of the month, we'll select five finalists and ask you to vote for your favourite.
