Do pop-up stores make you more likely to shop at a retailer?

Categories: Business

Target's invasion of Canada has begun with a beachfront in Toronto's trendy west end: a pop-up store that will be open for just a matter of hours.

Target has 1,752 locations in the U.S. and, for a few hours on Thursday, one in Canada. (Allen Fredrickson/Reuters)The temporary shop on King Street West, just north of the Rogers Centre, will sell fashions by Vancouver designer Jason Wu.

Shoppers will be limited to just three items, and an amount equivalent to the shop's total sales will go to the United Way.

The U.S. retail giant bought the store leases for the 220 Zellers locations across Canada in January. Target will take over 105 of the stores in 2013.

Some of the other locations will become Sobeys supermarkets and Wal-Mart stores.

Do stunts like pop-up stores make you more likely to shop at a store? Have you ever shopped at a temporary store? Let us know in the comments below.
