Housing prices have been rising across Canada, with the average price for a resale home hitting $360,000 in November, according to the most recent information from the Canadian Real Estate Association.

But what that amount of money actually gets you in different parts of the country can vary significantly.

Based on data from MLS listings, CBCNews.ca took a random sampling of properties offered at or near the average price in communities across Canada. Here are some of the listings at prices close to the national average:

  • Vancouver: $360,327: Condominium apartment, 653 square feet, one bedroom, one bathroom, built in 2012.
  • Toronto: $360,000: Condominium apartment, 765 square feet, one bedroom, one bathroom.
  • Fredericton $358,500: Single family home, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, above ground pool, built in 2009.
  • Charlottetown $359,700. Single family home, 2,600 square feet, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, built in 1973.
What's your reaction to these sample listings? Would you be tempted to move to another city or province for a better deal, or are you rooted because of your job or personal connections? Let us know in the comments section below.
