The contents of a time capsule hidden in Maple Leaf Gardens were revealed Thursday. (Kevin Frayer/Canadian Press)Updated Thursday: A tiny ivory elephant, an NHL rule book and a municipal code are among the contents of a time capsule hidden in Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens more than 80 years ago.

The capsule was found behind a cornerstone in October by workers who were remodelling the Gardens into a Loblaws grocery store and athletic centre for Ryerson University.

The capsule was tucked behind a cornerstone when the Gardens was built in 1931.

Originally posted Oct. 15, 2011: A time capsule was found buried beneath the historic Maple Leaf Gardens centre in Toronto.

Built in 1931, the former hockey arena housed the iconic Toronto Maple Leafs for more than 60 years.

With the team now playing their games at the Air Canada Centre, construction has begun on the historic building, with plans to turn it into a Loblaws.

A bricklayer found the capsule whose actual contents remain a mystery, though the speculation is it contains historic hockey memorabilia.
