It has been just over a year since the Arab Spring began in Egypt.

CBC News correspondent Nahlah Ayed was there soon after demonstrations began in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Jan. 25, 2011. Her reports aired nightly on The National; her reports for radio and tweets for CBCNews.ca brought Canadians the news as it happened.

For the last 12 months, she has reported extensively on the changes that have come to Egypt.

Her most recent stories include a profile of a modest apartment building in the ancient city of Giza, which stands as a sort of microcosm of the new Egyptian reality.

Last night on The National, Ayed's story took a close look at the plight of young Egyptian men hoping to move forward in their lives and marry - but can't because of the cost.

On Monday, Ayed took questions from the CBC community about Egypt, what she sees for its future and her experiences reporting from there.
