Would you wear Dress Pant Sweatpants in your workplace?

Betabrand's Dress Pant Sweatpants are meant to look like wool trousers but are made of terry fabric. (Betabrand)A U.S. company has designed a new style of pants for the man who has everything but the will to change out of his pyjamas before heading to work: Dress Pant Sweatpants.

The pants "look like fine charcoal wool trousers" but are made of "fine terry fabric," according to Betabrand, which sells the pants for $90.

"They look sophisticated, but they feel as slumped-on-the-couch comfy as your favourite pair of old sweats," Betabrand claims. "Whether you're in the office or on the road, rest assured that these trousers will make any day feel like Casual Friday."

The San Francisco, Calif.-based Betabrand specializes in off-the-wall wear.

They've already come up with Disconite Pants (made of "disconium" mined from the depths of Antarctica), Cordarounds (pants on which the corduroy is horizontal, rather than vertical) and Karate Casuals (drawstring pants for those who want to specialize in the "martial art of inactivity.")

The Dress Pant Sweatpants have proven so popular that Betabrand says it sold out of two entire production runs in less than two weeks. A third and final run won't arrive until late March.

Would you wear a pair of Dress Pant Sweatpants to work or elsewhere? Do you find your workplace's dress code so restrictive that you need to find a way around it? Share your comments in the field below.
