Just 25 per cent of British women believe in the idea of the perfect man, a survey says. (iStock)A majority of British women do not believe in the idea of a perfect man, the Telegraph reports.

Out of 2,000 women surveyed, just 25 per cent said they believed the perfect man exists. The vast majority - 75 per cent - said the opposite. The majority also described their own partners as about 69 per cent perfect.

The survey found a number of common faults that kept men from missing a perfect mark, including:

  • Leaving the bathroom door open.
  • Watching too many sports.
  • Poor personal grooming.
  • An inability to multitask.
  • Criticising the girlfriend's driving.
  • Not getting along with the girlfriend's family.
  • Leaving clothing on the floor.
  • Snoring.

The survey, commissioned by the grooming product company Remington, also found that one in five women said they believe their partner only pretends to listen to them.

And 35 per cent of respondents rated a good personality as the most important quality in a man.

"While they might happily overlook a few common flaws from their guys, there are certain behaviours that men just won't get away with," said Nikki McReynolds, Remington's marketing director.
