Conrad Murray stood accused of giving the singer Michael Jackson, his patient, a fatal dose of propofol. (Kevork Djansezian/Reuters)Conrad Murray has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of singer Michael Jackson.

Murray, who was Jackson's doctor at the time of his death, showed no reaction as the verdict was read in a Los Angeles courtroom.

Murray faces four years in prison and the loss of his medical licences.

The verdict came after a six-week trial that painted Murray as either inept or opportunistic.

Jackson died from a fatal dose of the anesthetic propofol, which Murray acknowledged giving Jackson to help him sleep.

Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, had argued that Jackson himself had given himself a fatal injection when Murray left his bedside.
