The first of Canada's new polymer bank notes - the new $100 bill - goes into circulation on Monday.

To fight counterfeiting, the new bills have two transparent, built-in windows that make them difficult to forge but easy to verify. One extends from the top to the bottom of the bill and has holographic images. Another window is in the shape of a maple leaf.

The front of the bill features former prime minister Sir Robert Borden, with scenes depicting the discovery of insulin on the back.

The $50 bill features former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King on the front and images of the Canadian Coast Guard Ship Amundsen, an arctic research vessel, on the back. It will be released in spring 2012.

Because they are made of durable polymer, the new bills are expected to last 2.5 times as long as the current ones. That alone could save the government $200 million or more over the life of the series, officials say.

What do you think of Canada's new bills? Do you like them, or not?
