If the ghost and ghoul getups don't cut it for you this year, the CBCNews Community team has thought up some creative costume ideas, ripped right from the headlines.
This Halloween, show off your knowledge of world news with these offbeat outfits.
Will and Kate

Millions watched worldwide as Britain's Prince William married Kate Middleton on April 29. Keep the wedding fever alive on Halloween by dressing up as the pair. All a couple needs are a glossy brown wig, a bald cap (sorry Will!) and a scene-stealing sister. Optional: Someone dressed as Princess Beatrice's distracting, yet mesmerizing hat.
Charlie Sheen
Having been replaced by Ashton Kutcher on Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen didn't exactly end the year 'Winning.' The actor's bizarre behaviour led to a misguided live tour, a handful of weird catchphrases and countless parodies of his off-the-rail tirades.
If you're up for playing the eccentric Sheen, make sure you've got a bevy of beauties by your side, a cup of (fake) tiger blood and a pink slip from one of the most watched TV shows in North America.
Space junk
Twice this year, global space agencies have raised alarms about falling satellites, making space junk an easy and trendy go-to costume (especially if you're crashing a party). Got a cardboard box and some tinfoil lying around? Great, because this DIY number is simple to pull off -- just try not to land on anything important.
Julian Assange
The WikiLeaks co-founder has had a tumultous year. From being named Time magazine's person of the year in 2010, to facing sexual assault charges in the summer of 2011, Assange is no stranger to headlines. To pull off this costume you'll need some white face paint (the paler the better), a silver wig, blacked-out documents and friends with chequebooks.
Devastated Harry Potter fan

Still grieving the end of the boy wizard's journey through Hogwarts? Celebrate Harry Potter one last time by dressing up as your favourite character's biggest fan. Clutch some pre-sale theatre tickets, bring along some movie line snacks and be prepared to cry. A lot.
These suggestions are just a start. We'd love to hear your newsworthy costume ideas in the comments below. What are you dressing as this year?
We're also looking for photos of decorated houses, spooky jack-o-lanterns and creative costumes!

Happy Halloween!
