Does RIM's free app offer make you feel better about the service outage?

Research in Motion is offering $100 in free apps for its BlackBerry customers as expression of appreciation for its customers' patience during a recent service outage.

BlackBerryThe free apps include games - such as Sims 3, Bejeweled and Texas Hold'em Poker 2  - and voice recognition apps like iSpeech Translator Pro and Vlingo Plus.

RIM's business customers will also get a month of free tech support.

The outage lasted three days in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. It lasted a day and a half in Latin America and Canada, and a day in the United States.
