A new contest hailing the importance of libraries is offering up one-on-one time with a slew of prize-winning authors.

Organized by OurPublicLibrary.to, a group of library supporters in Toronto, the contest is a reaction to proposed service and program cuts to libraries in the city.

"The position that libraries hold in the hearts of people really cannot be overestimated," Atwood told CBC News.

The contest asks people to submit short essays and videos on the theme of "Why My Library Matters to Me."

The list of participating authors includes Vincent Lam, Joy Fielding, and Susan Swan.

Which author would you most like to hang out with?
