Do you worry about buying tech that will soon become obsolete?

Categories: Science & Technology

Reuters is reporting that Apple is preparing to release a new, cheaper version of the iPhone 4 this coming September. Speculative prices for the eight-gigabyte model hover around the $150-$200 mark, but nothing has been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Research in Motion has just announced three new models for the BlackBerry Curve smartphone, sporting thinner bodies and beefier processors.

Sometimes, it's not new products that render technology obsolete.

Hewlett-Packard announced Thursday that it intends to leave the PC market and stop making smartphones and tablets by October. Retailers have slashed the price of the HP TouchPad tablet by an average of $300.

All this makes the tech world a minefield of buyer's remorse. Have you ever regretted buying a gadget after a newer model appeared on the market? Do you own an "orphan" product that is no longer supported?
