Heavy etiquette protocol surrounds any royal encounter, but many crack under the high pressure situation.

P.E.I. singer Meaghan Blanchard committed the most recent blunder when, during a performance during William and Kate's visit, she mistakenly referred to the Duke of Cambridge as a "dooch."

Blanchard is not alone in committing a royal encounter faux pas. Other faux pas include:

  • Pierre Trudeau's pirouette behind the Queen's back during the G7 summit in London, England, in 1977.
  • When George W. Bush asked the Queen to identify the black sheep in her family during a formal dinner, hosted by then U.S. President George H.W. Bush, in 1991.
  • When two members of the Spice Girls kissed Prince Charles and pinched his bottom during an encounter in 1997.
  • In 2007, George W. Bush winked at the Queen after a verbal blunder.
  • U.S. President Barack Obama's fumbled toast to the Queen in May, when he continued to speak even as an orchestra played God Save the Queen.

With all the protocol, would you like a chance to meet a royal family member? How would you recover from a royal flub? Let us know in the comments below.
