Update June 21: The NHL's board of governors meets in New York to approve the relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg. Some commentators speculated a Winnipeg team name may come out of the meeting, but owner True North Sports and Entertainment Ltd.  says no team name or logo will be unveiled.

For the NHL entry draft on Friday, Winnipeg will use a generic NHL logo.

June 1: Hockey fans are rejoicing following Tuesday's announcement that Winnipeg will have its own National Hockey League team for the first time since 1996.

While the Atlanta Thrashers' move to Winnipeg is a done deal, one detail that remains to be settled is a name for the new team.

The Jets - the moniker used by Winnipeg's last hockey team back in 1996 - is a popular contender, but rights issues could force the new outfit to go in a different direction.

Judging from the outpouring of audience feedback about the Winnipeg team, many of you have inspired suggestions for a new team name, and we'd love to hear them all.
