Canadians planning on travelling abroad this summer might want to consider leaving their cellphones at home.

Canadian wireless providers charge some of the highest roaming fees for international data roaming among the 34 countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, according to a report released Wednesday.

Canadians using wireless devices abroad paid an average of $24.06 to use one megabyte of data in a single day if they were Bell and Rogers subscribers during the study period last fall. That's 2.6 times the OECD average of $9.27.

Does Canada need a more competitive wireless marketplace? Have you paid large wireless fees while traveling abroad? If so, we'd love to hear your stories in the comments field below.
