Real Canadians, real stories

From the issues that matter most to you and your community, to uplifting personal tales of triumph or perseverance, Citizen Bytes is a place for Canadians to tell their stories in their own words.

This blog is a space that reflects the genuine Canadian experience from coast to coast to coast. In pictures, words or video; you tell us what's important to you.

Share the who, what and why that make your community and your story unique.

Telling your story

Establish the story you want to tell, isolate the issues facing your community, and then share your experience. Whether you choose a photo essay, text entry or short video, the Your Voice team will work closely with you to present your submissions to ensure the entries are clear, concise and compelling.

Keep the following tips in mind:

  • Relevance matters. Why is this story important to Canadians? How is this affecting your community? Will this resonate across the country?
  • Remember that the personal is powerful, so present your story in your own words.
  • Maintain focus. Keep entries brief and to the point. Take the time to figure out the who, what, when, why and how.

How to submit

Entries and ideas can be submitted via email to: citizenbytes@cbc.ca

We thank everyone for their submissions. Due to volume, you will only be contacted if your entry is chosen.
