Four members of a Kansas family suffered minor injuries when a tornado destroyed their home Monday. Violent storms also knocked over freight train cars and halted play at the College World Series in Nebraska.
Sharon Watson of the Kansas Adjutant General's office says at least three homes were destroyed Monday afternoon in Norton County near the Nebraska border. The injuries reported were minor cuts and scrapes.
Sirens began blowing about 8 p.m. CDT at the College World Series in Omaha. Fans began filing out immediately, and the game between Vanderbilt and Florida was eventually postponed until Tuesday due to inclement weather.
In central Nebraska, the York News-Times said one of its photographers reported several freight cars were knocked off the tracks Monday evening on the outskirts of town.
