The world has been shocked in recent days by disturbing images coming out of Ukraine of a violent crackdown against anti-government protesters in the capital, Kyiv, where at least 25 people have been killed in recent days.

CBC News has compiled footage of the most recent clashes between protesters and police, which have been some of the most violent in nearly three months of anti-government protests that have paralyzed Ukraine's capital.

The violence has pitted thousands of mostly pro-West demonstrators against hundreds of riot police pressing into encampments set up in Independence Square, known as the Maidan.
