Lawmakers in Iceland concerned over violent and misogynistic material that may be shaping how young people understand sexuality are considering steps to block online porn.
"The approach is not anti-sex, as many people think, but more anti-violence," said Halla Gunnarsdottir, political adviser to the Icelandic minister of the interior.
Printing and distributing pornography is already illegal in the country, and lawmakers are now hoping to implement filters to block internet addresses.
The proposal has led to heated debate over internet freedoms, sexuality and violence prevention.
CBC Radio's Day 6 host Brent Bambury discusses the potential impacts of the new law with Gunnarsdottir and Birgitta Jonsdottir, an Icelandic MP and chair of the International Modern Media Institute.
