A televised debate over Syria turned into more than just a war of words when one of the participants pulled a gun on a rival.

There was a lot of shouting and shoving before one of the guests on the talk show, member of parliament Mohammad Shawabka, hurled a shoe and then briefly waved a gun at his opponent.

Shawabka didn't fire any shots and the incident ended before anyone was seriously hurt.

Mansur Muran, a former MP and political activist, ducked for cover during Friday's brawl and the program's presenter was forced to step in and separate the two men.
