An angry ex-employee of a Toronto Whole Foods store didn't hold anything back in his 2,000-word letter of resignation.

The employee complained about co-workers, managers, customers and owners of the chain in the letter emailed to everyone at the company. The letter was posted on the website Gawker.com and was picked up by numerous blogs.

The letter is the latest resignation to catch the public's attention but there have been plenty of others.

Remember the parliamentary page who was fired after protesting against Stephen Harper's government? Or the U.S. flight attendant who ranted at passengers, cracked open a beer and then exited a plane via its emergency slide?

Sometimes giving two weeks' notice just doesn't cut it.

Have you ever witnessed an 'epic resignation'? If you have, let us know.

We take a photographic look at some spectacular resignations that brought the quitters fame — or notoriety.
