A 23-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in a shooting outside a downtown Buffalo, N.Y., bar that killed four people.

Riccardo McCray of Buffalo appeared in city court Thursday morning, where the plea was entered on his behalf. No bail was set.

McCray turned himself in at a television studio Wednesday afternoon, and police charged him with four counts of second-degree murder.

He is accused of opening fire on a crowd outside the City Grill around 2:30 a.m. ET on Aug. 14 after its managers shut down the restaurant early because of a disturbance.

Four people were killed, including a Texas man celebrating his wedding anniversary.

Four others were wounded. Three have been released from hospital while the fourth remains in critical condition.
