A man has turned himself in to Buffalo, N.Y., police in connection with the fatal shootings of four people outside a restaurant.

A community activist said he convinced Riccardo McCray to turn himself in Wednesday at the WIVB television studio rather than running from police.

Community activist Darnell Jackson said he had heard police wanted to talk to McCray. He said he doesn't know McCray personally but was approached by McCray's family.

The development comes 11 days after the early morning shooting outside a downtown restaurant. The victims were leaving the City Grill at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 when a man opened fire and killed four people, including an Austin, Texas, man who was celebrating his first wedding anniversary in his hometown.

Police, the district attorney and a defence lawyer for McCray haven't returned phone messages.
