CBC News correspondent Anthony Germain followed the Thai army as it entered the anti-government protesters' encampment in a pre-dawn raid Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Lumpini Park in Bangkok.
Germain, a broadcast journalist, captured these images from the front lines as soldiers battled protesters.

The Thai soldiers' raid on anti-government protesters in Bangkok led to clashes that resulted in the death of at least five people, including an Italian photographer. Dozens more were wounded, including Chandler Vandergrift, a Canadian freelance journalist. (Anthony Germain/CBC)
