An eastern Afghan governor was slightly injured when a bomb exploded outside his palace on Thursday.

Tahr Khan Sabari, the governor of Khost province, was cut by flying glass after a bomb went off in a garbage can outside his residence in Khost city.

The blast shattered windows. Five other people, including two journalists meeting with the governor, were slightly wounded.

Khost province, which borders Pakistan, was where a suicide bomber got into an American military base and set off an explosion on Dec. 30 that killed seven people working for the CIA.

On Wednesday, 15 civilians were injured in a blast outside a shop in Khost city.
