Iran tested two short-range missiles Sunday, Iranian officials said.

The test comes a few days after the country confirmed it is building a new underground facility to produce enriched uranium, which can be used for either fuel or building nuclear bombs.

Gen. Hossein Salami said his Revolutionary Guard Air Force also tested a multiple-missile launcher for the first time in a central Iranian desert.

Salami said Iran would test medium-range Shahab-1 and Shahab-2 missiles on Sunday night and a longer-range Shahab-3 missile on Monday, as part of drills set to last several days.

State television identified the first two missiles as a Tondar-69 and Fateh-110.

Salami said the missile tests were intended as a warning to other countries who have raised the alarm over Iran's nuclear program.

"For all those who ... might harbour dreams about undertaking military invasion against our nation and country, a message of these manoeuvres is firmness, destructiveness, real and endless resistance," the general told state television.

His words come as representatives from five countries negotiating with Iran over its nuclear program — the United States, Britain, Russia, China and France — prepare to meet with Iranian officials Thursday in Geneva.

The U.S. has warned Iran could face harsher sanctions if it does not open its new enrichment site to international inspection.
