According to IMF projections, the number of unemployed Canadians will have increased by more than 2 per cent by the end of 2009.

Canada, however, is not alone.

Rather IMF data suggests that unemployment rates will continue to rise in North America, parts of Europe and Israel through next year. The United States will notice a 3 per cent increase since last year; the United Kingdom, France and Germany will also follow similar trends.

The IMF data map comes from the World Economic Outlook Data Base, and depicts unemployment rates from 2003-2010.
