Prime Minister Stephen Harper will meet with the leaders of the United States and Mexico next month in Guadalajara.
White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs on Friday confirmed Harper, U.S. President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon will attend the North American Leaders Summit Aug. 9-10.
Issues on the agenda will include the economy, energy, the environment, swine flu and other "shared interests," said Gibb.
The last "three amigos" summit, hosted by former U.S. president George W. Bush, took place in New Orleans in April 2008.
At that time, Harper praised the North American Free Trade Agreement but said he was concerned about increasingly tight controls along the border with the U.S.
In preparation for the August meeting, Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa held trilateral talks Thursday in Washington.
