18 African migrants drown off Yemen coast after boat capsizes

The UN refugee agency said at least 18 African migrants drowned after a smugglers' boat capsized off the coast of Yemen this week.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees said another 29 people who were on the boat are missing.
The migrants left Somalia on June 11 and sailed across the Gulf of Aden for four days before encountering strong winds and rough seas. The boat carried 88 people.
Twenty-four of the migrants managed to reach the shore aboard a smaller skiff which was towed behind a bigger boat. Coast guards later found six other survivors who made it to shore.
The agency said 146 migrants have drowned and 85 are missing this year on the people-smuggling route across the Gulf of Aden.
