A protester throws green liquid in the face of U.K. Business Secretary Lord Mandelson in London on Friday. (CBC)A protester threw green slimy liquid in the face of British Business Secretary Lord Mandelson on Friday as he was heading to a conference in London.
Leila Dean, 29, of Brighton approached Mandelson seconds after he got out of his car and tossed a substance which she later identified as custard.
Dean belongs to a group called "Plane Stupid," which is campaigning against government plans to build a third runway at London's Heathrow Airport.
She told reporters that Mandelson was siding with lobbyists and business interests, rather than the good of the planet, in supporting the new runway.
But Mandelson said Dean failed to make her point.
"She was so busy throwing what seemed like green soup or something in my face that she failed to tell me what the protest was about," he said.
No one took any action against Dean, who walked away after the incident.
