A Canadian-Iranian citizen is in German custody, accused of selling technical equipment to Iran, breaking a trade embargo.

The man, whose identity has not been released, is accused of selling the equipment from his Germany-based company between November 2007 and September 2008.

He is being investigated by customs authorities, according to the German federal prosecutors office in Berlin.

The man was arrested Sunday but the office did not release a statement until Tuesday. He is being held in detention until his trial.
