All four children aboard a special-needs school bus died Friday afternoon when the bus collided with two dump trucks on a northern Indiana road, police confirmed.

"The victims are everywhere," said Cass County coroner Gene Powlen.

The bus driver survived, and she was airlifted to hospital with unknown injuries. The two dump truck drivers were not hurt, according to the Logansport Pharos-Tribune.

The crash occurred at the intersection of two U.S. highways near Lake Cicott, north of Lafayette, said 1st Sgt. Dave Bursten of the Indiana State Police.

According to the Pharos-Tribune, the crash occurred after one dump truck tried to slow down for a turning vehicle, but was unable to stop. It swerved into oncoming traffic and clipped the school bus.

The bus flipped over and slid into oncoming traffic, striking another dump truck before landing in a ditch.

Television video from the crash scene showed the bus upright, its roof crushed.
