A personal assistant to Linda Stein, former manager of punk rock band the Ramones, has been arrested in connection with her death.
Stein, 62, was found bludgeoned to death on Oct. 30. Her daughter found her face down in a pool of blood in the living room of her $3 million US apartment.
New York police spokesman Paul Browne said formal charges were pending against Natavia Lowery, a personal assistant in Stein's real estate practice.
Stein was known as the Realtor to the Stars, as she sold high-end apartments to celebrity friends and clients such as Madonna, Sting, Billy Joel, Steven Spielberg and Angelina Jolie.
Stein was a fixture at CBGB club in Manhattan, the epicentre of the punk music scene in New York in the late 1970s and 1980s.
She was co-manager of The Ramones with Danny Fields and is often credited with organizing the band's landmark 1976 trip to England.
She also was the ex-wife of Seymour Stein, the former president of Sire Records, the launching pad for the Ramones, Talking Heads and Madonna.
An autopsy found that Stein died from blows to the head and neck.
