Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, responding Sunday to the latest barrage of rockets fired into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, said "no one involved in terror will be immune" from attack.

His comments came just hours after a Kassam rocket killed a man in the Israeli town of Sderot. He was struck with shrapnel as the rocket landed near his car.

No one was reported hurt in three other rocket attacks on Sderot. The town has been struck so often in the past couple of weeks that many residents have left.

At his weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, Olmert said Israel would "act without a time limit" in Gaza and would not be "subject to conditions from any outside source." His deputy defence minister later explained to reporters what this means.

"We are carrying out actions, striking targets in Gaza every two hours," Ephraim Sneh said. "Stopping rocket fire from Gaza is not something that can be done overnight. It will take time and we will give it time."

According to the Israeli army, about 250 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza since May 15. One of the Kassam rockets killed a woman and wounded a man in Sderot on May 21 when it struck a car.

Israel has in turn been launching constant strikes to try to hit Hamas militant targets in Gaza. More than 40 Palestinians, including civilians, have died in the strikes.

On Saturday, Israeli missiles hit close to the home of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, though the army said he wasn't a target. Israel said the day's air campaign killed five Hamas militants.
