Colorado is facing another blizzard, and the state still hasn't cleaned up from last week's storm.

The Denver area could see 25 to 45 centimetres of snow between Thursday and Sunday, said CBC News meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai. The foothills west of the city could see even more.

At the same time, winds could be gusting above 100 km/h, causing whiteout conditions.

Canadians will not escape this storm, Ramsahai said.

About 10 centimetres of snow have already fallen on southern Alberta. Saskatchewan and Manitoba will see snow Thursday and Friday.

Ontario will have its share of ugly weather on New Year's Eve — freezing rain, wind, rain and snow. Ramsahai said it was too early Thursday to say what specific areas of the province will be affected.

"People should keep an eye on it," she advised.

In Denver Thursday, crews were still clearing away ice and hard-packed snow from last week's blizzard, which dumped half a metre on Colorado, forcing schools, malls, offices and highways to close.

More than 1,000 flights were cancelled at Denver International Airport, stranding 4,700 travellers.

The Colorado National Guard was called in to rescue drivers trapped on roads and deliver supplies to travellers stranded at the airport.

Since the storm, Denver and airport officials have been fending off criticism of their snow-removal efforts.
