U.S. First Daughter Barbara Bush had her purse and cellphone stolen while in Buenos Aires, according to a report.

ABC News said Wednesday that law enforcement reports indicated the theft occurred at a restaurant despite the 25-year-old being under the detail of Secret Service agents.

Bush and her twin sister Jenna were in Argentina on a two-week trip, though the purpose of their visit was not known.

The theft reportedly took place on the first night of the trip, in the San Telmo district of Buenos Aires.

It was also reported that during the trip a Secret Service agent was beaten after an altercation, though officials told ABC the incident was a mugging that occurred while the agent was off duty.

Neither the White House or the office of First Lady Laura Bush have commented on the purse-snatching incident.

Barbara Bush reportedly landed a job earlier this year at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in New York.

A Panamanian newspaper reported in September that Jenna Bush was working in that country at the UNICEF regional headquarters, located on a former U.S. military base.

The twins achieved tabloid notoriety as 19-year-old university students after being caught drinking and possessing fake identification in Texas in 2001.
