Three soldiers – two Canadians and a coalition member – were injured when the vehicle they were riding in rolled over in Kandahar on Wednesday, officials said.

One of the Canadians was flown to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Centre in Germany as a precaution, while the other has returned to work.

The third soldier, first reported to be an American, will spend the night in a Kandahar hospital for observation.

None of the injuries are life threatening.

The three, who have not been identified, were travelling in a Mercedes-Benz Gelaendewagen (known as a G Wagon), an armoured SUV-type vehicle, in the early morning.

Canadian military officials say the rollover wasn't caused by an enemy attack but is under investigation.

The G Wagon made headlines in December 2005 after two Canadian soldiers injured in a roadside bombing praised the light military vehicle for protecting them from the blast.

However, Pte. Braun Scott Woodfield was killed and four other Canadians were injured in November when their armoured vehicle rolled over near the city.

The LAV III flipped after swerving to avoid an approaching car that wasn't using its headlights.

Roughly 1,500 Canadians are serving in Afghanistan, with the number expected to rise to 2,200 before the end of the month.
