At least two people were killed Monday at a police roadblock in a suburb of Port-au-Prince where militant supporters of former Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide rallied to mark the one-year anniversary since he left power.

Police fired tear gas at the crowd as they charged the roadblock, then followed that with live ammunition.

The protesters carried away one body. The second body was surrounded by UN peacekeepers.

Early in the protest some among the demonstrators began shouting slogans against U.S. President George W. Bush, whom Aristide blames for his ouster on Feb. 29, 2004.

Critics say the interim government of Prime Minister Gerard Latortue has since engaged in a witchhunt of Aristide supporters.
