Transportation officials in New York have fired the captain of the Staten Island ferry involved in a fatal crash last month.

Michael Gansas has consistently refused to discuss the crash with city and federal investigators. Ten people were killed when the commuter ferry barreled into a concrete pier. Dozens more were hurt.

Gansas says he's too traumatized to speak about the incident.

The assistant captain of the ferry was at the controls as the boat crashed. It is still not known where Capt. Gansas was at the moment of impact.
