It's being hinted that many secrets are revealed in a new Beatles book, written by three of the Fab Four themselves - including the secret of the band's breakup.

According to the Beatles Anthology, the split took place after a concert in Toronto in 1969. Lennon debuted the Plastic Ono Band that night, and later broke the news to the Beatles - he was leaving.

Paul McCartney was left to tell the world, and for many years, take the blame. Canadian musician Ronnie Hawkins was a friend of the Beatles and knew about the breakup long before it was official. "They weren't speaking to Paul McCartney when they were at my house," Hawkins said.

He says the book will finally tell the truth after so many false histories have been published.

The anthology, which will retail at $112 a copy, promises stories from the Beatles about drugs, fights and sex along with previously unseen photos of the band. Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr spent the past six years working on the project they say will put an end to all the questions about the Beatles' story.

At least one critic says the book still won't tell the truth, in spite of its authors' seeming position of authority. Former DJ and author of a Beatles book himself, David Pritchard says, "They want to set the record straight, but it's not the right story and it's not correct. I know for sure it won't be correct."

The profits from book sales will be split evenly among the authors and Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, the band's fourth member who was murdered in New York in 1980.

The anthology will be printed in Britain and the U.S. this fall.
