Swissair has decided to replace all the Mylar insulation in its MD-11 jets for a "particularly fire-resistant" new material called Tedlar.

The airline says it's making the move because of information gathered from the investigation into the crash of Swissair Flight 111.

A fire broke out on that MD-11, but investigators still don't know why. The plane crashed off the coast of Nova Scotia last year, killing all 229 people onboard.

Last August, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said the Mylar insulation panels fail newly adopted flame-retardant tests. It gave airlines four years to replace the insulation.

The insulation is used to keep the inside of planes warm and quiet.
