British actor Rowan Atkinson, known for his Mr. Bean television and movie character, crashed his high-powered McLaren F1 supercar this week but escaped with just minor injuries.
Atkinson, 56, was released from Peterborough City Hospital in England on Friday afternoon, but made no comment to reporters.
On Thursday, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree and then a lamp post before the supercar caught fire, authorities said. The accident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. near Haddon, Cambridgeshire, about 140 kilometres north of London.
Firefighters said Atkinson didn't get trapped inside the car. The fire department was called to the scene to put the fire out.
Atkinson was given a routine breathalyzer test at the scene and will face no criminal charges, police said.
Britain's Daily Mirror tabloid reported that the actor was able to walk away from the vehicle and flag down other motorists for help. The Mirror also said Atkinson had a shoulder injury, but publicists for the comedian did not confirm the report.
Atkinson, also known for his role in the Blackadder historical comedy shows, owns various vintage and classic cars and writes articles for specialist car magazines.
