Michelle Obama mistakenly referred to herself as a single mom during a TV interview, but quickly corrected herself when she realized she'd misspoken.
In an interview with a local TV station on Thursday, the U.S. president's wife was trying to describe the difficulty busy parents face in balancing work and home life when she appeared to forget that she is, in fact, married to someone who usually works from home — in this case, the White House.
"Believe me, as a busy single mother — or I shouldn’t say single — as a busy mother, sometimes when you’ve got a husband who is president it can feel a little single. But he’s there," she said.
The U.S. first lady has spoken often about the challenges busy parents face in making sure kids get healthy food on a consistent basis.
"As a busy working mom, and before I was in the White House, I was in that position as well," she said. "Working, driving kids to practice, not having enough time to shop or cook. Not having the energy.
"Resources weren’t the issue, but time and energy is key."
