Students in an international studies class at the American University of Kuwait City told CBC News that the conflict against ISIS is likely "going to get worse" before it improves.

The students have a unique perspective on the campaign, as Kuwait borders Iraq to the south and coalition forces, including Canadian military planes, are stationed in the country.

"It’s going to get worse and then it’s going to get better,' said one student. Another said it's "fortunate" that foreign coalition forces are helping but it "shouldn't be on their shoulders all the time."

CBC foreign correspondent Sasa Petricic, who is currently reporting from Kuwait, spent some time speaking with students about their views on how the situation might unfold on the ground.
