San Bernardino iPhone case: Judge formally vacates order to grant access
News comes after the FBI announced it had used an alternative method to unlock the phone
Magistrate Judge Sheri Pym has formally vacated the order which had compelled Apple to help the U.S. Department of Justice access an iPhone belonging to the San Bernardino shooter, a court filing says.
This news comes after the FBI announced Monday it successfully used a mysterious technique without Apple's help to hack into the iPhone and was dropping the legal fight to compel Apple to help it gain access.
This takes away any obvious legal avenues Apple might have used to learn how the FBI did it.
