EU's tallest building opens in London
The Shard makes its debut amid lights, lasers, royalty
The tallest building in the European Union will be opened with a light and laser show in London, although the massive structure has surely been on the minds of residents before its official debut today.
The 310-metre tall building, designed by architect Renzo Piano, dominates the skyline of the city.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra will perform during the unveiling and the structure will be inaugurated by Prince Andrew and Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani, the prime minister of Qatar.
