Britain's Royal Mint is giving away 2,013 silver pennies to babies born in the U.K. on the same day as the newborn son of Prince William and Kate.
"Obviously, this is a very joyous time, not just for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but for the nation as a whole," said Shane Bissett, director of commemorative coin at the mint. "However, for the parents who had their newborn yesterday, it’s a very special day for them."

According to folklore, Bissett said, crossing a baby's palm with silver is supposed to bestow luck and prosperity throughout life.
He said an average of 2,000 babies are born every day in the U.K. so interested parents should contact the Royal Mint through its Facebook page as soon as possible.
