TomTom GPS users can now get directions from the official voice of Star Wars' Yoda.

The voice was made available for download in English and German Thursday by TomTom as part of its Star Wars series, licensed from LucasFilm, TomTom said in a news release.

While Yoda voice knock-offs such as PigTones's Pagoda have been available for several GPS brands for some time, TomTom promises extras with the official version.

"Control, control, if a Jedi you wish to be," the voice adds to some commands, sometimes with encouragement from Obi-Wan Ben Kenobi and sometimes with John Williams's Yoda theme music in the background.

Tom Murray, senior vice-president of market development at TomTom, said Yoda is one of the voices most frequently requested by users.

The company has previously released official Darth Vader and C-3PO voices as part of its Star Wars series, and plans to launch Han Solo in August.

It plans to add more languages during the summer.

TomTom is charging $12.95 US for the Yoda voice.
