Internet safety expert visits Montague school

Parry Aftab spoke to students about internet safety. (CBC)A world-renowned digital safety expert was in Montague, P.E.I. Thursday to spread the word on how to stop cyber bullying.
Parry Aftab is recruiting some young talent to help start up an international initiative. Aftab visited Montague Regional High School to tap into some first hand expertise in cyber bullying. The international cyber safety expert hopes to launch a campaign on P.E.I. that she can take world wide.
"We've got a program we're going to be starting here on the Island to create a cyber army to make the internet a better place for everyone, not just Islanders," said Aftab.
Aftab wants to teach teens how to protect each other while cyber bullying is still top of mind.
News of the recent death of Amanda Todd, a B.C. teen, sent shockwaves across the country. Todd posted her silent plea for help from online harassment on YouTube before she took her life.
Drama students acted out a cyber bullying skit for their school. Aftab wants to tap into student's individual talents to combat the problem.
"Make sure if you see something horrible, you know what to do," said Aftab.
